Recap: Quantum Computing Exploration

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Quantum Computing Exploration session this week! Your curiosity and thoughtful questions made for an engaging and eye-opening discussion on how quantum computing is transforming science, security, and the future of computation.

A huge thank you to Dr. Mark Jackson (Senior Quantum Evangelist, Quantinuum) for sharing his time, expertise, and clear explanations of a field that can often be difficult to grasp. His perspectives helped students understand why quantum computing matters, what problems it can solve, and how AI and quantum will evolve together.

Key Takeaways:
✅ Quantum solves the unsolvable.
Simulating complex molecules on classical computers would require impossible resources — quantum computers can do this with just a few hundred qubits.
✅ AI + Quantum is the future.
AI predicts what it has seen. Quantum computes what has never been seen. Together, they will transform scientific discovery.
✅ Security will fundamentally change.
Quantum Key Distribution makes eavesdropping detectable — you cannot “hack” the laws of physics.
✅ Quantum is no longer theoretical.
With Quantinuum’s Helios system and real use cases in materials science and drug discovery, the shift from experimental to commercial quantum computing has already begun.
